This process has to be efficient, economical and dust-free.
The Ruyter Offshore© pressure tank or P-tank system is a conventional system used within the offshore industry. The pressure tank system is named after its most important component, the pressure tanks. The system deploys several pressure tanks to receive, store and discharge cement and drilling powders (Barite & Bentonite) on the rig or vessel. The bulk material is loaded and unloaded pneumatically, using compressed air to convey the powders. The drilling powders (Bentonite & Barite) are mixed into the drilling fluid for the drilling process on the rig. Combining Ruyter Offshore© designed dry bulk systems with our advanced mixing technology ensures an efficient, fully automated, dust-free mixing system perfectly calculated to provide the ultimate inventory control and complete product hydration during the mixing phase. This combination of bulk handling technology with patented mixing processes is state of the art from an automated bulk handling and mixing standpoint and eliminates the labour-intensive mechanical systems that are currently used.
Bulk material is loaded pneumatically from a ship (for example, an offshore support vessel) using the loading pipes. Flexible hoses connect the ship to the rig using several quick-connect deck connections. The vessel provides the compressed air required for pneumatic conveying.
After being filled, pressure tanks serve as storage units until the material is required for the drilling operations. The bulk material is then pneumatically conveyed to the surge tanks on the rig through a pipe system. Compressed air is supplied by a compressor and air dryer installation onboard the rig. The dry bulk material can also be discharged from the ship to the rig or vice versa.
The system contains two or more segregated categories, effectively creating multiple separated systems. Each category includes all the machinery, valves, piping and other equipment required to operate. The segregation also prevents contamination if various materials are handled.

A dust control system on the drilling rig ensures a dust-free work environment for the rig’s crew and complies with stringent environmental regulations.
